My mother was also a victim of that kind of mentality. We need to work together to stop child marriage. Parents and teachers should discuss about child marriage with children. Girls are not burden girls can go further than we imagined.” Young leader Dola, 15, visits the United Nations on Day of the Girl Child 2019 to present on the work of her Child Forum in Bangladesh, which has stopped over 600 child marriages in the past two years. Dola’s own mother was married at the age of 13, to a man eight years her senior. Dola is the youngest of four daughters, and is determined to show that girls are not a burden on their families, but can fly to achieve their dreams.
