Some boys in the village also teased us in the beginning. I didn’t know anything about football when I started attending coaching classes, but now my confidence has grown. My communication skills have also improved," said Piya,12, one of the participants. At Darjeeling district, World Vision India is working in two Blocks, under three village councils. More than 1500 girls are part of the Girl Power groups in 65 villages. The module is run for six months and each group meets once a week. Here the girls are sensitised on many issues such as trafficking, risk of child marriage, child rights and so on. World Vision India is also empowering communities by setting up Men Care Group and VLCPC in 42 villages: taking big strides in the fight to end child sexual abuse.
</oembed>
