Parents, health care providers, teachers, religious leaders, and local politicians – they're all gathered as members of their Village Development Group. Here in Chunkuri village, this citizen group worked together to evaluate their local government health clinic and advocate for necessary improvements. Now those improvements have been made, so local mothers can receive quality care in their own village, instead of traveling a greater distance and paying more at a private clinic. The group was aided in its efforts by the Citizen Voice and Action component of Nobo Jatra, a five-year development and food security program implemented by World Vision Bangladesh and funded by U.S. foreign assistance.
