He made sure things changed for the community at Kakuma refugee camp to have more access to clean and safe water. The community gets extra water supply from UNHCR and NRC supporting the exercise. SUMMARY: Mulangaliro Rwagaza, 25, is a refugee -- and a pastor -- in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya. As a refugee, he felt he had a role to play and to not sit in the back seat waiting for services to be given to him. Through World Vision, Mulangaliro learned that social accountability initiatives can lead to the empowerment of the community, particularly the refugee community. He started to engage with power holders, staff from the International and Non-Governmental Organisations. The training by the World Vision Kenya CVA project empowered him to take a front seat in sharing solutions on problems affecting the refugee community. He could view a problem, share solutions and find a way forward to resolve it. He is actively stopping the dependency syndrome that often affects refugees.
