The hospital and NRC was strengthened with infrastructure help in the form of beds, wall paintings and other items to make it more child friendly. Children are also provided with a food basket for six months to improve their dietary intake once they leave the NRC. According to Sushilla there has been lots of changes in the lives of malnourished children as parents immediately register them at the NRC or health centre. Earlier parents would not listen to her in spite of repeated warnings. However, with World Vision’s intervention through awareness programmes and other community engagement sessions, people now understand the urgency of going to the NRC especially if their child is malnourished. Once they are there, mothers generally love the environment and services provided at the NRC. According to the staff at the centre, after completing 15 days at the NRC, some mothers and children don’t feel like going back home. When they come for their follow-up visits, they also enquire about the friends they made during their time there.
