She is a member of the child protection unit started by World Vision in her community. ? ""I belong to a conservative family. I was very shy and never talked much in public. Apart from school I didn?t step out of the house. But after I became part of the child protection unit, I see a drastic change in my personality. My parents are now comfortable in sending me for various meetings orgnaised by World Vision. We were taking for exposure trips where we got to share ideas and best practices with other child protection units. Being part of such a group and organising activities helps created leadership skill us all. We also visited various NGOs, to understand the work they do to ensure that children get their basic rights. We were also taken to meet law enforcement officials to see live examples of how an FIR and missing diaries are filed. Thought trainings we understood the child labour acts. The CPU members are empowered to raise their voices. Whenever an issue arises, they call for an emergency meeting to resolve the issues - starting from how to address the issue, talking to the family getting them on board with the idea, if this doesn?t help, informing the various govt delivery system, etc. Now I am able to share whatever I learnt with other children. I have become bold in putting my opinion across.
