Goal #17: Revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

The final Global Goal, partnership for the goals, ties all the goals together. This goal stands as an important reminder that the success of the Global Goals is dependent on the success of all the goals. They cannot succeed without communities, countries, governments, and organizations working together.

Partnership for the goals is not just about the goals, it is also about identifying all that is needed to achieve these goals. This includes ensuring funding for development projects, improving and sharing technology, gaining support for development efforts internationally, and increasing trade opportunities for all countries, including low-income nations. Overall, this goal gets at the heart of the Global Goals: to address systemic issues, you need to develop and improve policies; have multi-sectoral, inclusive partnerships; and ensure community-level accountability on all the Goals.

World Vision takes partnership seriously. When we go into communities, it is not about us helping them but rather partnering alongside individuals, communities, and governments. This way, there is local and national ownership, making solutions sustainable and empowering. We believe that you can’t just address one sector such as child protection, hunger, or clean water, but must take a holistic approach that improves each of these areas so everyone can experience life in all its fullness.

We have a long road ahead of us to reach these goals by 2030, but through partnership with other humanitarian organizations, communities, religious leaders and institutions, enterprise, and governments, we believe the Global Goals can become reality. Join us.
